Muara Tumbuh
(The Sacred Garden)

Interactive mix media installation
Organic materials: rice husk, soil, green beans, peanut, red saga seeds, clay, water.
Non-organic materials: fabric (textile), air dry clay.

Size approx.: 180 x 180 x 300 cm

Muara Tumbuh (muara-estuary, tumbuh-grow), borrowed the shape of woman's womb, appeared in organic material constellation. The womb shape, represents a safe space for the seeds to grow, symbolizes the beginning of life. The decision to use organic material, is to align with birth, growth, and ephemerality in life. Public are invited to water the green beans, as a reminder for nurturing life.

Muara Tumbuh series, first time showing at MARWAH,
an art exhibition to commemorate the 78th Indonesia Independence Day, participated by 78 Indonesian Women Artists.
This exhibition is initiated by Artpora and curated by Anna Sungkar.

Detail of the Artwork
The artwork of Muara Tumbuh, is an interactive mix media installation, where public can participate to shower the green bean seeds, to help the seeds to grow. The showering time is scheduled - as you can see in the image (with botle) - so the soil is not to wattery and not to dry.
After the third day, the bean showed their sprouts, and at the 5th to 7th day, the bean sprouts are growing.
