TIMELESS was inspired by the relics ornaments that appeared in traditional artworks from the Majapahit era, circa 13th to 15th century. Through observation, we can learned that at that time, people had demonstrated high levels of creativity and skill, where the artworks were inspired by nature and daily life.
Timeless, which is visualized horizontally like a time-line, with a recurring ornamental arrangement, is a metaphor of the eternity of art. At the center of horizontal line, there is a similar form of Mandala, which represents Hasta Mandala Majapahit, or the eight main regions under Majapahit’s Kingdom in that era. Mandala also known as a universal symbol which illustrates the regularity of cosmos, harmony, and the ephemeral life cycle such as from birth to death. The glory and the life of Majapahit, has become a history, but the artworks continuously inspiring.
Ars longa, vita brevis.
Seni iku dawa, urip iku cendhak.
Seni itu abadi, hidup itu sementara.
